  12.      A single 8-bit character set, based on ISO 8859-1, is currently
  13.      supported.  Other character sets may be supported in the future.
  14.  
  15.      ISO 8859-1 is an 8-bit single-byte coded character set.  This set, Latin
  16.      Alphabet #1, contains characters used for general purpose applications in
  17.      typical office environments in at least the following languages: Danish,
  18.      Dutch, English, Faeroese, Finnish, French, German, Icelandic,Irish,
  19.      Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swedish.

  21.      The ASCII 7-bit character set is a proper subset of 8859-1 (see
  22.      ASCII(5)).  The characters added by ISO 8859-1 each have the most
  23.      significant bit of the byte on.
